Further signs of the surge in Ceará tourism come with the news that one of Brazil’s leading airlines will increase its services to the state this festive season. Latam has just announced that it will operate 240 extra flights to Ceará from early December to the end of January. The news confirms Ceará’s status as one of the most sought-after holiday destinations in Brazil during high season.
Exponential increase in flights to Ceará
Latam is one of the major operators at Fortaleza Airport and offers a wide range of domestic flights, connecting the capital with other Brazilian cities. The company plans to increase its services over the high season, with 240 extra flights.
The additional services will run from 1 December to 31 January 2024, covering the busy Christmas, New Year and summer school holidays in Brazil. Between them, all Latam flights to Ceará will offer almost half a million seats over the period.
Different destinations
The extra flights will cover many of Brazil’s largest cities. Sao Paulo receives the lion’s share, with 36 weekly flights between Fortaleza and Guarulhos Airport, and 21 a week between Fortaleza and Congonhas.
Brasilia will connect to Fortaleza with 21 Latam flights, while Salvador, Teresina and Galeao in Rio de Janeiro will have 14 a week each. In addition, Latam will offer 7 flights a week to Natal, Belem and Manaus.
Strategic investment
Latam is one of the largest operators in Brazil and has one of its major bases in Ceará. The latest addition of flights during high season confirms the company’s commitment to the state.
“Ceará is a highly popular destination for both Brazilians and foreign visitors in the summer,” said Aline Mafra, head of Sales and Marketing at Latam Brasil. She added that the additional flights are “part of Latam’s strategic investment” in Ceará.
Ceará highly sought-after
State tourist officials welcomed the news from Latam, emphasizing that Ceará is ready for high season and the influx of visitors. “Ceará is one of the most sought-after states at this time of year,” said Yrwana Albuquerque, Secretary of Tourism in Ceará. “Our destination is well positioned for holiday searches and the additional flights will make it easier for tourists to visit.”
