The beaches in Flecheiras will form part of this year’s Beach Run Brasil 2022, which takes place on the Ceará coastline between February and November. The annual circuit attracts hundreds of athletes and showcases the best beaches in Brazil.
First races on Ceará beaches
Beach Run Brasil started its first race in Ceará at Jericoacoara in mid-February. BRB Jeri included two races of 7km and 12km and a half marathon. Around 600 athletes took part in the races, which showcased the sandy beaches to perfection.

The resort area, home to The Coral, welcomes Beach Run Brasil in late April. On 23rd, Flecheiras beaches will see two races of 5km and 10km with a half marathon the following day.
The 10km race runs as far as the beaches at Mundaú and Emboaca while the half marathon passes along Guajiru beach. Runners in the 5km race will enjoy the coco palm plantations and dunes. All participants can look forward to a magnificent sunset when they arrive at the finish line.
The last time BRB visited Flecheiras was in 2017 when runners enjoyed perfect weather conditions as the video below shows.
Other destinations in Ceará
BRB then moves to Paracuru in August and finishes in Canoa Quebrada in late November. The highlight of the circuit is the BRB Marathon, considered the most challenging beach run in Brazil. The 42km race takes place on 10th July between the beaches at Icapuí and Canoa Quebrada.
Boost to tourism
“The circuit is well received by runners from all over Brazil,” said Ricardo Ramalho, Director of Beach Run Brasil. “They’re drawn to the challenges of running in sand and the beauty of the beaches themselves.” Hotels and resorts offering accommodation and sports facilities do well, particularly those close to the race starts and finishes.
Ramalho pointed out the benefits to tourism from the event since it attracts athletes and tourists to the race locations. “We’re pleased to enjoy the support of the Ceará Tourism Board who understands the value of sporting events to promote tourism in both high and low seasons,” he said.
